Dog-friendly event in Bethesda area to benefit American veterans

Pet lovers from Bethesda and other Maryland towns are being encouraged to attend a charity event that will raise funds for American military veterans in need.

Later this month, the Dogtopia boarding and grooming center in North Bethesda will be participating in the Ninth Annual K9 Support Dog Wash. The organizers of this fundraising event have likely made arrangements with a print company to ensure that informational flyers and posters are being distributed generously throughout the area.

The staff at Dogtopia expects a large number of local individuals and families to arrive with their canines in tow. The fees collected from each dog’s bath will go toward Veterans Moving Forward (VMF), an organization that provides service dogs to returned soldiers who need physical assistance or could benefit from the companionship of an animal. Dogtopia’s other locations, which are sprinkled across the United States, will also be raising money for VMF.

Those who do not own dogs will be welcome to attend the event as well. They will still be able to help the cause by donating soap, towels, and other items. A number of vendors will also be on-site to sell their products and have agreed to donate a minimum of 10% of their proceeds to VMF.

The Dog Wash is set to take place on Sunday, July 21 at 12:00 pm. There are still open spots for vendors and for volunteers ages 16 and older. Those who are interested in participating may call (240) 514-0210.

Dogtopia is located at 4920 Wyaconda Road.
