Beltsville women to race in heels for charity
January 7, 2014 by Mark
Women from the Beltsville area will soon have a chance to take part in a unique indoor race.
Toward the end of the month, Terrapin Adventures will be hosting the Adventures in Heels event at the Savage Mill Mall. Banner printing is almost certainly going to be in higher demand as the big day draws nearer.
Proceeds from Adventures in Heels will benefit the Success in Style organization, which provides professional clothing and job counseling for men and women returning to the workforce. During the race, participants will hurry through the shopping center in their favorite high-heeled shoes, completing various challenges as they make their way toward the finish line. Many of these tasks will take place inside of the individual stores at the mall.
Attendees will be encouraged to wear casual clothing and race in heels that feature straps and are less than 4.5 inches high. They will be welcome to add bold accessories, such as feather boas, to their outfits. They should plan to bring a pair of flat, closed-toed shoes along so that they can step outside and ride Savage Mill’s 40-foot swing after the competition.
Participants will also enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine, and cheese after they have completed the race. The event will feature a number of raffles, the earnings from which will go entirely toward Success in Style.
Adventures in Heels will take place on Saturday, January 25. It will kick off at 2:00 pm and end at approximately 5:00 pm. Registration will cost $39 per person.
Savage Mill Mall is located at 8600 Foundry Street.
