Beltsville residents invited to a day of food and fun
October 2, 2013 by Max
Beltsville residents are encouraged to take part in an annual festival in a nearby university town, as College Park Day makes its return to the Herbert Wells Ice Rink for the fourth straight year. Poster printing has likely been in higher demand as the organizing parties in charge of this event work to promote it throughout the area.
The festivities will take place a short distance from the University of Maryland. In addition to free ice skating, activities will include bungee jumping, a 5K run and walk, and a group bike ride. Attendees will enjoy live music from Bluebeard and Eli August & the Abandoned Buildings. Children will be kept occupied as they paint pumpkins, roller skate, and play in bounce houses.
More than 70 locally-based entrepreneurs and artists will be on hand to market their businesses and sell their work. In addition, a number of food vendors will be setting up trucks and booths at the event. This year’s participants will include Bill’s Backyard BBQ, Curbside Cupcakes, and Cold Stone Creamery.
The fun will extend beyond its headquarters at the skating rink. Attendees enrolled as students at the university will receive free admission to College Park’s Aviation Museum. A variety of restaurants and stores around town will be offering discounts in honor of College Park Day, as will local bowling alleys and recreation centers.
The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 19 and will be centered at 5211 Paint Branch Parkway. It will begin at 11:00 am and run until approximately 3:00 pm.
