It’s almost time to celebrate Mardi Gras

February 13, 2012 by

The Mardi Gras Celebration will take place at the Sheraton Baltimore North on March 3 from 7-9 pm. Tickets are $125. Proceeds from the event go towards the Blind Industries and Services of Maryland and the Polakoff Foundation.

The emcee of the Mardi Gras Celebration will be Stan Stovall. Music will be provided by the Junkyard Saints. There will also be the Hurricane bar which will feature celebrity bartenders, a silent auction, a dinner featuring New Orleans favourites such as oysters, jambalaya and king cake and dancing.

Sponsorships are available for local companies which range in price from $1,000 to $5,000. The lowest sponsorships will get your company name listed in the program booklet and on the websites of the charities in attendance. Among other things, a $5,000 sponsorship will ensure that your company name is listed on a wall banner at the event. Baltimore banner printing services will be providing a product that will guarantee that your company name will not be overlooked.

The Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM) provides “training services, programs and opportunities for blind individuals” and also provide free glaucoma screenings to high risk persons. They currently have 11 facilities and 2000 clients.

The Polakoff Foundation raises funds for glaucoma research, creates awareness of the condition and makes services available to glaucoma patients or those who may be at risk for the disease.

Both of these charities are worthy causes to support and those who take part in the Mardi Gras Celebration will have fun doing it.
