Help at hand for deserving students

With tuition fees on the rise, many students are having to rely on scholarships to help them get to college and university. Thankfully, there are organizations such as the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber (BWCC) that sponsor scholarship programs for deserving local students, and hold annual galas, the next of which is in February 2013.

The BWCC Foundation Annual Gala helps to raise much needed funds for its scholarship program which awards scholarships to high-school students who plan to go on to higher education. This year, the theme of the gala is ‘The Corridor’s Got Talent’ and will feature America’s Got Talent finalist, artist Joe Castillo. In addition to the entertainment, guests will be served appetizers, drinks, and desserts. There will also be a raffle. It sounds like a good time will be had by all and the fact it is for such a worthwhile cause will add to the enjoyment of the evening.

Sponsorships are available from $500 – $4,500 and all sponsors will be mentioned in the program, will have their names displayed at the event, and will be named on the raffle poster. Organizers will no doubt be working with Baltimore area printing companies to prepare for the event, meaning that banners might be used to display the sponsors’ names and flyers will possibly be sent out to Chamber members to remind them about this upcoming annual event.

The 56th annual BWCC Foundation Gala will take place at the Sheraton Columbia Town Center Hotel in Columbia on February 21, 2013 from 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm. Tickets are $75. Suggested dress is cocktail attire. For more information, call 301-725-4000.
