Full speed ahead for premier car show in Plymouth

July 18, 2013 by

Being a well-known player in the history of car manufacturing and with the name Plymouth, this city is a logical place for the Concours d’ Elegance of America to take place. It took Concours officials 32 years to reach the same conclusion, but since 2011, it has been held here in Plymouth, and will make its annual appearance later this month.

The event is high up on the list of the world’s prestigious automotive events, featuring more than 300 vehicles this year. The first Concours d’ Elegance was held during the 1920s and combining automotive design and fashion design was aimed at the upper crust. The Consours d’Elegance of America has no ties to the fashion industry; however, it does celebrates several aspect of automobile culture.

A series of events, starting on July 25, such as award presentations, auctions, motoring tours, seminars, and even a cocktail party are held prior to the main event. On July 28, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, the various classes will be on display including the new special class – Electric Cars: Past, Present and Future. One can only hope that a catalog printing of the cars will be available for ordering, or that previous years’ winners will be available in print form.

The event is taking place at The Inn at St. John’s on Five Mile Road in Plymouth. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $25.00 per adult, with children under 12 admitted free. Ticket can also be bought online.
