Lansing to get a new hotel at Eastwood Towne Center

Eastwood Towne Center, a Lansing Township showplace, is about to get another hotel. The Hyatt Place broke ground for its development earlier this year and now a second hotel, a Fairfield Inn & Suites, will soon be joining it.

The new location, which caters largely to business travelers, will have 121 rooms and is expected to cost approximately $10million, all from private investors. Steve Hayward, Executive Director of the Eastwood Downtown Development Authority, noted there have not been many developments of this type in the region in recent years, and this will be a welcome addition to the community.

Eastwood Towne Center is undergoing a massive expansion. A part of the development, known as The Heights at Eastwood, is where the new Hyatt Place will be located. It will also feature 100,000 square feet of retail space, a mixed-use parking garage with 716 spaces, and 124 luxury apartments. When the fairfield Inn & Suites is completed, the entire renovation of Eastwood Towne Center will represent approximately $55m in private investment, not including a $29m bond used for The Heights.

The Fairfield Inns & Suites is a franchise hotel, owned by Mike Eyde, a developer. Although construction could start later this month, the hotel is not scheduled to open until late 2015. Eyde hopes to bring that date forward.

Eyde and others on the project could work with brochure printers to create a mailer for distribution to travelers coming to the area, describing the hotel’s amenities and its prime location near the freeway.
