Farmington and Farmington Hills gear up for garden walk

July 27, 2016 by

Gardeners, plants enthusiasts, and people who just love gardens have a treat coming up soon, since the Farmington Garden Club has set the date for its annual garden walk. Participants will tour seven private gardens, as well as the public gardens located at the Warner Mansion.

Gardens of all types and sizes will be on display, from those designed by professional landscapers to those done by the owners; and from a fairy garden to an extensive space with many different plants, a waterfall, and a koi pond.

The walk meanders through both Farmington Hills and Farmington, so visitors will have to drive to the gardens. In most places, the homeowners will be present to answer questions, share their ideas about designing gardens, and discuss their plant choices. There will also be a Farmington Garden Club member at each location, to act as a docent.

The walk, titled ‘Summer Splendor Garden Walk’, will take place rain or shine, on August 6, 2016, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Tickets, which will be collected and used to win prizes at the end of the walk, are $10, and can be purchased from Steinkopf Nursery, at Warner Mansion the day of the walk, or from a garden club member. Children under 12 are free.

Events like these can be enhanced with festive banners, which are sturdy and work well both indoors and out.
