Children to create troll houses and fairie gardens
February 2, 2012 by Mark
On Friday, February 24, just in time for spring, children will be hard at work building dwellings to house fairies and houses for trolls that stop by the Matthaei Botanical Gardens, 1800 N. Dixboro Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Rumor has it that every spring the fairies and trolls return to this lovely botanical garden to take up summer residence, and this year is no exception. Children are invited to attend to assist with the making of homes for these lively little creatures. This fun activity gives the children a chance to get together and share their creative talents. All materials are supplied in the price of admission. Most of the materials will consist of recycled papers from old flyer printing, poster printing, and other sorts of printing collected from various sources.
Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum outdoor trails and gardens are open seven days a week from dawn to dusk and admission is free, while the Matthaei Botanical Gardens Conservatory, Lobby, and Garden Store are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Admission is $5/adult and $2 for Children from 5 to 18. Children under five are admitted free.
Children attending this event are encouraged to build fairy homes and troll dwellings that can be taken home to encourage the little visitors to drop in and take up residence for the summer. Class size is limited so advanced registration is required. The class runs Friday, February 24th from 10 am to 12 pm. The cost for this fun and imaginative event is only $5.00/child.
