Southgate House Revival features Tom Smith

April 29, 2013 by

Tom Smith will perform at the Southgate House Revival in Newport, near to Southgate, later this week.

Smith is known for having a unique style of music. Maurizio Angeletti, a famous Italian composer and author, noted in his book entitled ‘American Guitar’ that Smith is

“…completely free from the barriers of commercial music”

Angeletti added that this is reflected in his guitar playing. Smith, meanwhile, refers to his style as ‘contemporary guitar’.

Audiences are not sure how to classify the music of Tom Smith but one thing is definite – his music is widely loved. He uses his own life experiences in addition to his vivid imagination to spin his anecdotes and paint the images incorporated into his music.

Smith began his musical career in 1966 and has toured through 30 states, as well as three countries. His experience has been in everything from small bars and coffee houses to concert halls and large festivals exceeding over 10,000 attendees. He has appeared on TV shows and shared the stage with many famous musicians.

When musicians tour, they often order supplies from printing companies to manage their shows. Flyer printing is common so that handouts can be distributed in the various regions prior to the performance dates to increase awareness and attendance.

The Southgate House Revival website contains the full schedule of entertainers through the next few months, as well as ticketing availability and information. For more information, please contact (859) 431-2201.

Smith takes the Newport stage this Wednesday, May 1. There will be two performances, both free for adults, beginning at 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
