Seafood comes ashore in Northern Kentucky
July 30, 2012 by Sarah
Newport will be hosting the ‘Great Inland Seafood Festival’ along the Newport Riverfront from Thursday, August 9 until Sunday, August 12. This will be happening just down the road from Southgate, Kentucky.
This will mark the 25th year this festival has taken place along the shoreline of the Ohio River in Newport, Kentucky. As part of the festivities, there will be a selection of premium cuisine available from restaurants located throughout Northern Kentucky, as well as many restaurants in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Each day, a BB Riverboat harbor cruise will leave at 12:00 pm and return at around 3:00 pm. An evening BB Riverboat harbor cruise is also available and will leave at 7:00 pm. During the event, there will be live musical entertainment with a number of great headliners. The schedule of performers is available on the website.
The focal point is the ‘Live Lobsters’ from Maine and, this year, the organizers have brought in 10,000 of them, which they are expecting to sell quickly at $10.95 each. There will be a variety of other seafood to sample, such as crawfish, crab legs, shrimp, redfish, salmon, and oysters. This year, more than 15 local restaurants will be on site to tempt guests’ tummies with a vast selection of savory dishes.
Poster printing and flyer printing may have been used to spread the word to local residents in Newport, and the surrounding region. Admission is free. For more information and a copy of the performance schedule, please visit the Great Inland Seafood Festival 2012 website.
