This year’s Kentucky Derby Festival poster unveiled

The first images for the poster of the 2017 Kentucky Derby Festival were recently released.

This year’s poster was designed by Ron Jansin and depicts Louisville landmarks that are connected with the Kentucky Derby in vibrant colors. Among the images are events such as the Great Steamboat Race, the BallonFest activities, and the Great Bed Races.

Mike Berry, the CEO and President of the Kentucky Derby Festival, said:

“This year’s poster creatively showcases icons that are both significant to the festival and our community. We believe festival fans will also like how the image is used in the various pieces of our merchandise line this year.”

Jansin, who works as an artist and graphic designer at his company Madpixel, and as the creative director at the Copper and Kings Distillery, was excited about the poster as well. He was eager to be involved with a festival that had been a favorite event of his since he had moved to Kentucky, and said:

“The style came about through my love of the city, the architecture and loving the spots that might be lesser known to visitors.”

The poster, and merchandise deriving from it, will be available for purchase on March 2 at the Festival Unveiled event, which will be located at the Tim Faulkner Gallery. Designer Jansin will be there to sign copies of the poster.
