Persimmon Festival on its marks
September 29, 2012 by John
Runners and walkers will shortly be limbering up for the Persimmon Festival.
The festival is a 5K run/walk that takes place at Mitchell High School. All runners and walkers are invited to join in and bring along the family. The majority of this walk/run occurs throughout the streets of Mitchell City, although the majority of the course is flat. As part of this event, there will be a one mile fun run where any age group can join in, as well as a 800 meter run for kids between kindergarten and grade three, and a 200 meter run for children who are pre-kindergarten. Registration for this event begins at 7:30 am with the 5K run/walk starting at 8:30 pm and the children’s races and mile run starting at around 10:00 am.
Awards will be presented to the top three runners in each age group for the run and the top five male and female walkers. There will be awards for the under grade five fun run, as well as ribbons for all who participate in the Children’s races. T-shirts will be given to all 5K participants, as well.
Poster printing and flyer printing were probably used to promote this run/walk to residents of the community and the surrounding communities. This event occurs on Saturday, September 29th beginning at 7:30 pm at Mitchell High School located at 1000 West Bishop Avenue in Mitchell, Indiana, which is located on Highway 37, 30 miles south of Bloomington. Cost for this run/walk is $18 per person or $20 per person on the day the race is held.
