Good news for air travelers using Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport. Has arrived, with American Airlines Group releasing a statement announcing daily nonstop service from Lexington to philadelphia’s International Airport starting in June.
Eric Frankl, the executive director of Blue Grass, said:
“We have been working to obtain nonstop service to Philadelphia for several years, and we know our business community will really benefit from the convenience.”
Air Wisconsin, operating a Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft, will be the carrier on behalf of U.S. Airways Express for the Lexington to Philadelphia service.
As Frankl observed, Lexington’s business travelers will be pleased at this latest addition to the nonstop flights out of Blue Grass. Local marketing and sales representatives in all sectors, from clothing to books to stationery printers, welcome new flight schedules that save them time and energy in getting to other major urban areas and “hub” airports. Philadelphia is the 15th city to see nonstop service from Lexington.
In a related announcement, U.S. Airways also indicated the company will be starting nonstop service between Philadelphia and Memphis, and Philadelphia and Charleston, West Virginia. For all small and mid-size cities, scoring this type of expanded nonstop air service is crucial for attracting new business and remaining viable in the highly competitive economic development arena.
Reservations are now available for the Lexington to Philadelphia service at AA.com, USairways.com, and other reservation services. Daily service will begin June 5.
