Music, gifts and museums still on the holiday cards

Even once Christmas is over, there will still be plenty of fun on the cards for Lexington locals.

On Saturday, December 28, Mitch Barrett will perform with The Misty Mountain String Band to Natasha’s Bistro and Bar at 8:00 pm in Lexington.

The group will perform as fusion of Americana, country, and bluegrass music for fans. Thanks to poster printing, fans can often take images of their favorite artists home from concerts.

For those who want to dance their way into the New Year, Dee and Jeff’s House is the site for a Party like it’s 2014 at 7:00 pm on December 31. Dee and Jeff’s is located at 856 Albany Road, Lexington.

Another way to warm up for the New Year is through the 20th annual Southern Lights taking place at the Kentucky Horse Park, 4089 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, through December 31, 2013.

Dazzling displays of lights and animated figures can be viewed from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm each night. More than a million lights will be on display. In addition, there will be a petting zoo, camel rides, model trains, pony rides, and food, and craft vendors. For more information call (800) 678-8813.

Lastly, and extending well into 2014, bronze sculptures and paintings will be on display through February 28 at the Living Arts and Science Center in Lexington. A reception will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on February 21. For more information, call (859) 252-5222.
