A Midsummer Night’s Run, an annual event in Lexington, has been scheduled for August 11.

Sponsored by the Central Baptist Hospital, the event is held at the Lexington Downtown Hotel & Conference Center located on Vine Street. The hotel is home to Bigg Blue Martini, one of the most popular hotspots in Lexington. It also offers 14,000 square feet of meeting space and 367 guest rooms.

The Midsummer Night’s Run attracts residents and visitors from all over the region, with an anticipated attendance this year of over 5000 people. Many people of all ages participate in the One-Mile Fun Walk/Run which begins at 6:00 pm. At approximately 6:35 pm, one of the most popular events, The Fastest Kid in Town, kicks off with a series of sprints geared for young children beginning at one year of age through to 12 years old. Prizes are awarded for each sprint race.

The main event of the evening is the 5K Race, which starts at 8:30 pm. Additional festivities throughout the evening include A Midsummer Night’s Music in the Pavilion, which is a free concert. There will be an awards ceremony at the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion at Cheapside Park at the conclusion of the race events.

Vendors and merchants in the area are actively working with printing companies in handling poster, flyer, and banner printing for promotion of this event. The streets will be filled with visitors and race participants, bringing significant business to the merchants in Lexington.
