Music fans in the area are spoiled for choice this evening, as two eye-catching acts perform.
Prog-rock fans can celebrate a legend of the genre at a Pink Floyd tribute concert by USFloyd at the Lexington Center Opera House.
The performance begins at 8:00 pm and will combine the music, lights, audio, laser, and video effects for which Pink Floyd concerts are famous.
USFloyd was founded in Charleston, West Virginia by a group of talented musicians who all shared a passion for Pink Floyd’s music. The band prefers to perform in small concert venues in order to give the audience a more intimate performance.
The show is to be two and a half hours long and will feature music from ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’, ‘The Wall’, and ‘Division Bell’.
Tickets are $25 – $35, and the Opera House is located at 401 W. Short Street, Lexington. For more information call (859) 233-4567.
Meanwhile, over in the Rupp Arena, the Avett Brothers will also perform at 8:00 pm tonight. The brothers combine rock, bluegrass, pop, soul, and folk music into their own unique brand.
They recently produced their seventh full length album, and were first inspired to perform by listening to their father’s record collection. The group has performed on the ‘Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson’, ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’, and ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’.
The Rupp Arena is located at 430 W. Vine Street in Lexington. For more information, call (859) 233-4567. Poster printing is often used to create a souvenir for fans to take home from concert performances like these.
