Derby to raise funds for a worthwhile cause

April 27, 2017 by

The Running of the Roses Derby Day Gala is taking place next month, and is a fundraiser for Partners for Krabbe Research.

The main event of the evening will be a live screening of the 143rd Kentucky Derby. Guests will enjoy an open bar with bourbon drinks, mint juleps, beer, and wine. They will also be treated to three buffet stations.

Other activities taking place will include a silent auction, a Split the Pot draw, and the Mystery Bag of Cheer. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Cheap Thrill Band and Phil and Stacy Rugari. There will also be a best-dressed contest with the categories of hats and overall attire.

The Partners for Krabbe Research supports research into Krabbe’s disease, as well as promoting tissue and brain banking to help fight it. Krabbe is an inherited disease that destroys the protective coating of nerve cells, and stem cells have been shown to help treat it.

Organizers of this event may decide to distribute flyers or other printed materials in the area, including nearby communities such as Florence.

The Derby Day Gala will be held at the Madison Event Center in Covington on May 6 from 5:00 to 10:30 PM. Tickets are $65 and are on sale until tomorrow, April 28. Visit the Partners for Krabbe Research website.
