STEM Girls Day Out
June 9, 2012 by Mark
On Thursday, June 28th, Duke Energy is hosting “STEM Girls Day Out” in various business locations throughout the community of Crescent Springs, Kentucky. This is an all day event.
STEM Girls Day Out is a career exploration activity for female students between grades four and eight, but it is also open to other female students who may have an interest. This day out is designed to introduce and promote science, engineering, technology, and mathematics, all technical-based, to young girls. Often young girls naturally channel to business-based learning and this day out allow them to experience and see first-hand what technology-based careers and learning is all about.
This STEM Girls Day Out will enable these students to actually see these jobs in action to get a better understand of what other career choices are open to them. Students will be assigned a location, space permitting, at the time they register for the program with the possibility of one or more students being placed at each business location participating in this day out. Parents will need to drop the students off at the designated location site in the morning of the event and directions will be sent by email. Students will not need a lunch, as lunch is being provided courtesy of the company that is hosting the students.
Flyer printing may have been used at the local schools to promote this event to the students. Registration for this day out is free. For additional information on this event, or to register, please visit Duke Energy’s website, or call 8559-578-6396.
