The Kentucky Kenton County Veterans Memorial Armed Forces Day 5K Run and Walk will kick off this weekend, beginning at the Crescent Springs Community Park on the corner of Collins Road.

The event is presented by Crescent Springs and Villa Hills, with proceeds benefiting the Kenton County Veterans Memorial. Registration is underway but must be completed by the end of today, May 15.

Two fee options are available, including $15 without a T-shirt and $25.00 with a T-shirt. Registering the day of the event will not include a T-shirt and the fee will be $20.00, although T-shirts can still be bought for an additional $10.

Race run divisions begin with children 11 and younger all the way up to 70 years of age or older. Walk divisions start at 29 or younger.

Awards will be given to the top three runners in both female and male divisions for both runners and walkers. The Military Cup will be awarded to the top Military runner. Race results will be posted on the running time website.

People organizing runs like these typically order banner printing from local print companies so the banners can be placed throughout the race route to direct traffic appropriately.

The Kenton County Veterans Memorial is a tribute to the Americans who serviced in the armed forces and lost their lives preserving our rights and freedoms. The proceeds from this event help to maintain the facility and grounds. It kicks off at 8:30 am this Saturday, May 18.
