Woodland Hills’ complex to get underway

Westfield Village at Topanga, located in Woodland Hills, will be seeing a lot of activity in the next few months.
The site will be home to shops, restaurants, a Costco store, and gas station. Two other components of the mixed-use site, a hotel and office complex, are scheduled but will be added at a later date.
Estimates are that 1,400 new jobs will be added to the area once Westfield Village is open for business. If the ambitious timetable set by the developers stays on track, the complex will be ready in the fall of 2015.
According to the developers, this project will require spending a lot of time overseeing the actual construction. Westfield plans to have an office right at the Warner Center. Larry Green, vice president for Westfield’s real estate development, said:
“We’ll be spending a tremendous amount of time out here as we move things forward.”
This kind of high profile development is good news for area businesses. Vendors that provide custom services to retail and restaurant operations especially benefit, such as print companies that offer catalog printing services, or commercial kitchen equipment suppliers.
Work to sign-up tenants for the complex actually began four years ago, and the efforts appear to have paid off. The leasing commitments already stand at about 60 to 70 percent, according to Green.
