Woodland Hills area to take things outside

One way to keep busy this weekend is with a hike, designed for experienced walkers, be held on Satat the Los Liones Trailhead.

The Chairman’s Challenge 5k Hike was created to bring awareness to people about the importance of exercise and a healthy diet in preventing diabetes.

The walk will begin at 7:00 am on Saturday, September 7 and proper shoes and a hiking stick are recommended. The trailhead is located at 580 Los Liones Drive in Pacific Palisades, less than 30 minutes’ drive from Woodland Hills.

For those who want some fresh air but do not feel up to the hike, another outdoor event is likely to have kept local print companies and brochure printers busy this week. Heal the Bay has partnered with the Mountains Restoration Trust for a day of habitat restoration, also on Saturday, at the Malibu Creek State Park on Las Virgenes Road in Agoura.

The project will restore areas in Leo Carrillo State Park by removing invasive plants. Again, suitable clothing is advised and suggested apparel includes sturdy shoes, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt and hat. Gloves and tools will be provided, and guests should bring their own water and snacks.

With the scheme getting underway at 9:00 am, everyone should meet at the picnic benches located next to the parking lot to sign waiver forms. Kids should be at least ten years of age and all children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
