This Friday is open mic time at the Fig Tree’s Open Mic Mixer, presenting some of the best slam, spoken word, and poetry artists available in Southern California. It will be hosted by Joslyn Beard and will include drinks, food and networking.

Admission is $12 at the door and includes giveaways and prizes. It gets underway at 6:00 pm on Friday, June 28, at the Lotus Sushi Bar, 3742 South Flower Street, Los Angeles, only half an hour from Woodland Hills.

Alternatively, locals can hang out at the BET Experience from June 28 – 30. Events will be held at different venues throughout Los Angeles and will end with the live broadcast of the BET Awards from the Nokia Theatre this Sunday, June 30.

There will be seminars, celebrity appearances, film screenings, and other events throughout the weekend.

Entertainment will included comedy shows and musical acts such as Beyonce at the Staples Center, Mike Epps and Erykah Badu at Club Nokia on Friday. Snoop Dogg, J. Cole, Miguel, Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, and Cedric the Entertainer will perform at the Staples Center on Saturday, while Sunday will feature R. Kelly, The Jacksons, and New Edition at the Staples Center and Kirk Franklin at Club Nokia.

For those who just want to kick back and be entertained, the Hebrew Hillbilly, performed by Shelley Fisher, will be performed at 8:00 pm on Saturday, June 29, at the Santa Monica Playhouse, 1211 Fourth Street.

This one-woman show of laughter and song tells the story of her journey from Tennessee to Hollywood. Banner printing can be very instrumental in the promotion of local events like these.
