Wine tour to make a grape start to July

Locals can make the most of the outdoors and the summer weather this weekend by taking a tour of a California landmark winery and enjoying a picnic lunch at the Amador Wine Tour with Picnic Lunch at 9:00 am this Sunday, July 7.

The tour will take participants through several different wineries where they can taste some of the best zinfandels in the region. It is an opportunity to spend a romantic day with someone special and get to learn about wines and the foods with which they pair well.

D’Agostini Winery is a California State Historic Landmark 762 and was purchased as a 30th wedding anniversary present for Leon and Shirley Sobon in 1989. The cost of the tour is $49 per person and includes round trip transportation from the Bel Air Parking Lot at 1301 Florin Road. Catalog printing makes it easy to keep track of wine inventories and keep customers informed of what is for sale.

The following Monday, July 8, is a treat for students in grade 4-6. The Gardeners Day Camp will be held July 8-12 at Soil Born Farm’s American River Ranch, 2140 Chase Drive in Rancho Cordova, just 20 minutes from West Sacramento.

Camp will be held from 8:00 am to noon each day and will give kids hands-on experience with crops, including growing and harvesting. Kids will also have the opportunity to explore nature, complete crafts, cook, and help with community service projects, offering them an opportunity to learn how foods get to the store and then to their home tables.
