Bookworms and art vultures have plenty to munch on in March

An assortment of reading material with actual pages to turn will be available for purchase at the West Sacramento Friends of the Library spring book sale this weekend

Running from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm tomorrow, March 16, at the Arthur F. Turner Community Library, the books range from children’s publications, to dictionaries, to science fiction and fantasy. Music, audio books, and movies will also be for sale. Prices range from a matter of cents for children’s books to $1 for hardcover books. On Sunday, a whole bag of books is only $3. For more information, call (916) 375-6465 ext. 4.

Literature and art complement each other well, so it is worth noting that it will soon be time for the Arts, Culture, and Historic Preservation Commission of West Sacramento to hold its quarterly meeting.

Taking place at the City Council Chambers at 6:00 pm on March 25, the commission provides recommendations to the staff and city council. For more information, call (916) 617-4620.

Also, do not be surprised to see poster printing advertising Stage Productions’ presentation of the Tony Award winning musical ‘Avenue Q’ in the Black Box Theater of the West Sacramento Community Center.

For a new college grad, Avenue Q and its quirky neighbors turns out to be the only place he can afford to live. Showtimes are 8:00 pm Fridays, 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm Saturdays, and 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm Sundays up until March 31. Children aged 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult due to the subject matter.
