Vallejo area ready for pair of community-focused events
September 2, 2013 by Sarah
Two family friendly events are going to be on tap this month near Vallejo.
First up is a family friendly volunteer cleanup project, which will be held this weekend at McNear’s Beach in San Rafael, just over 30 minutes from Vallejo.
Admission to the park for this event is free for the day. After the cleanup, participants can limber up with some yoga in the park. A salad bar will be offered after the proceedings.
Volunteers are needed to help pull weeds, and to join in efforts to pick up litter on the beach. Participants should wear gloves, old jeans and t-shirts, and closed-toed shoes. Sunscreen is advised, as well as a hat, sunglasses, a water bottle, and snacks.
The event begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 7 in partnership with the Marin County Parks and LIFT-Levantate, and should last approximately two hours. Kids as young as three years old will be able to participate.
McNear’s Beach is located at 201 Cantera Way in San Rafael. For more information, call Kirk Schroeder at (415) 897-0618.
Speaking of benefits, the 5th annual Woofstock Benefit Concert will be held on Saturday, September 28 at the Marin Humane Society in Novato.
The event will be held from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm and will feature an outdoor concert, raffle prizes, a kids’ area, and a doggie dash contest. For more information call (415) 883-4621. Flyer printing is a great way to notify residents of community events like these.
