Third graders to learn about agriculture

Kicking off a busy week, tomorrow sees the 11th Annual Solano County Fair Youth Ag Day is come to the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo.

This annual event is organized by the fair and agricultural business, along with organizations in Solano County, and is designed to help third grade students in Solano County experience agriculture. There will be a variety of activities for the students designed to teach them about fiber and food production and how it contributes to the economy of Solano County. There will be hands-on displays, as well as presentations and a classroom project prior to the fair.

This event is free to attend. For more information, call (707) 551-2002. Business card printing could be used to help teach kids how to organize information and stay in touch with important contacts.

After Ag Day, there is a chance to bring the kids to the San Mateo Kennel Club Dog Show on Thursday, March 21. This AKC all breed dog show will be held from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm at the Solano County Fairgrounds, 900 Fairgrounds Drive in Vallejo. Admission is only $10.

Hungry stomachs can finish off the week at the Great Bowls of Chili Challenge. This fiery competition will be held from noon – 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Benicia Clock Tower, located 15 minutes from Vallejo. Competitors include local businesses, residents and organizations.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door for adults; and $8 in advance and $12 at the door for kids age 10 and younger.
