There will be plenty to see in the New Year in Vallejo. First of all, the community will celebrate Kwanzaa from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Saturday, December 29.

Activities will include live music, educational information, and guest speakers. December 29 is the final day of Kwanzaa and the event will be held at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum, 734 Marin Street. For more information, call (707) 712-3669.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will pull out all the stops for a New Year’s Eve celebration as part of their holiday in the park event from 4:00 pm until midnight on December 31. Activities include a midnight fireworks display, live entertainment, a snow play area, sledding, millions of lights, stage shows, and roller coasters. Tickets are available online or at the park.

Once 2013 has got underway, residents can enjoy a special treat and take a walk on Mare Island’s Aglow Holiday Lighted Trail Walk from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on New Year’s Day. The highlight of the walk will be the popular Spirit Ship glowing at the top of Mare Island Hill. More lights have been added this year in Rowser Garden and along Bunkers Trail.

Mare Island Preserve is located at the end of Railroad Avenue on Mare Island. With so much going on here and other local areas over Christmas and New Year, banner printing could be a good choice for directing visitors and for making sure they stay on designated trails and pathways.
