Tustin family makes giving easier

Last month, the Koren family launched a new website for its business which allows shoppers to make charitable donations at checkout.
The Korens say that 20% of a customer’s purchases will be donated to the charity of their choice, which can be selected at checkout from a drop down menu.
Their Tustin store sells a variety of unique gift items, such as blankets, baby items, and home décor. The website features similar items, including children’s ride-in toys featuring old style airplanes and cars.
Begun in October 2010, the Korens realized that many customers to their events and meetings for nonprofits wanted to participate but were unable to attend, so they launched the new website, LoveShopGive, in August.
Among the 21 charities available for donations are Orange County charities like the local Boys & Girls Clubs of Tustin, Orange County Rescue Mission, and the Philharmonic Society. National charities are also available, while checks to charity organizations are sent out at the beginning of each month.
There are 40 different brands of items in store to choose from and more than 50 online. Items online include baby items, home décor, wedding items, bar ware, candles, holiday items, and outdoor living. It would be no surprise if the family had consulted printing companies to promote the new online range.
Todd Koren admits that there has been a degree of suspicion as some nonprofits are wary of releasing their donor lists but the family is persevering because they believe in the work they are doing.
