Torrance to enjoy magic on New Year’s Eve

December 21, 2012 by

Illusionist Ivan Amodei will perform his world renowned act in the Le Grand Trianon Theater at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, just a short jaunt from Torrance.

The show has two performances, at 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm – both on Monday, December 31, 2013 – and the illusionist will star in his critically acclaimed ‘Intimate Illusions’.

Amodei’s show is accompanied by a concert cellist. The show lasts 90 minutes and combines magic and audience participation with storytelling and humor to entertain the audience. Features of the show include Houdini’s biggest secret and a recreation of William Tell and the apple on the head trick.

The show is appropriate for anyone of the age of 12 or older. Guests are advised to arrive 20 minutes in advance of the show and dress attire is elegant. Tickets are $65 – $75. For tickets and information call (866) 811-4111.

Speaking of humor, standup comedian Jeff Capri designed the winning parking permit for the city of Hermosa Beach. Capri’s design features a seagull flying over a volleyball game. The permit is for the 2013-2014 year.

An exercise runner, he plans on running even more so he can see his parking permit design on vehicles in the city. This is the third year the city has sponsored the contest. The permits are for sale at City Hall and by mail. Flyer printing may be used in preparation, as it is an excellent way to promote contests and advise residents of new events.
