Let the games begin in Torrance

The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) National Games will take place in Torrance this summer with a week-long celebration bringing forth amazing players, parents and volunteers from across the nation.

Founded by Mike Michalski, the games began in 1988 in Irvine. Today the games have evolved into the excellence and tradition chronicled in the spirit of the players and participants.

Teams are comprised of girls and boys organized into age groups. Co-ed teams can also participate in will play in the boys’ brackets. Generally each pool consists of six teams with no more than four pools per bracket. Random draw is used to determine the pool make-up.

Various sponsors participate in the AYSO National Games including Fox Soccer, Herbalife, Kerrygold, Shutterfly and Score.

A lottery was held in 2013 at the NAGM in Washington D.C. to determine regions receiving invitations for the 2014 games. Lottery draw results are available on the event website.

Printing companies are often contacted by event planners for activities such as tournaments to handle the production of marketing materials. Poster printing is a frequent request. Posters are printing on heavy paper stock, usually in full color with a gloss finish. The posters can be mounted throughout the region on flat surfaces such as windows, doors, pillars and walls. They will attract the attention of passersby creating interest and ideally increasing participation.

The Torrance AYSO National Games will be held June 29-July 7, 2014. More information is available via the event website. To speak with a representative, contact 800- 872-2976.
