Polo and comedy set the week’s tone in Temecula

Temecula folk looking to get outdoors and enjoy the spring air had a change to do just that yesterday, and can get ready for some rib-tickling mirth later this week.

Locals had a chance to picnic at Galway Downs with the Theatre Foundation Polo Match and Tailgate Party at noon yesterday, enjoying a professional polo match and having the opportunity to win prizes for the best appetizer and best tailgate display. Plain air artists were painting on location and then offering their art for auction.

For those who missed out on that but are still keen to take up an opportunity to get out of their houses this week, comedy comes on Friday night, May 31, at the Pala Casino Spa and Resort when ventriloquist Jeff Dunham performs at 8:00 pm.

Dunham is joined in his stand-up comedy routine by favorites Bubba Jr., Peanut, Walter, Jose Jalapeno, and Achmed. He began his career at the age of eight performing for his parents and continued to cultivate his passion and that devotion paid off with guest appearances on Late Night with David Letterman and The Tonight Show.

He hosted his first primetime special in 2006 and recently filmed ‘Controlled Chaos’, which was released in a dozen countries in 2011 with more than 5.5 million viewers. More than 100,000 DVDs of the performance were sold in the first week.

Whether it is comedy or polo teams, all fans will probably enjoy taking home a souvenir made possible by poster printing.
