Studio City rated among best Halloween neighborhoods in LA

Locals will probably not be surprised that their area has been rated the fourth best Los Angeles neighborhood for trick-or-treating, according to the Zillow real estate website. Rankings were based on crime rates, home value, “walk score”, and population density.

Among the many reasons this area has such high marks for Halloween fun is that local special effect experts deck their houses and lawns with creative Halloween accessories. Known as one of 12 haunted towns within an eight-mile radius, the Studio City area has many ghost stories, reported sightings, and fabled experiences such as the Underpass Ghost. Locals also have Valhalla Cemetery to explore, where many Hollywood stars are buried.

Halloween Family Festival and Movie Night will be a free event that will have food, carnival games, a costume contest, and a costume parade. Winners of the costume contest may want pictures taken to use for possible future poster printing. There will be candy, face painting, and moon bounces. Everyone will settle down on their blankets and enjoy the movie ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’. The first 300 guests will get free popcorn.

The Halloween Family Festival and Movie Night will be Saturday, October 29 at Studio City Recreation Center Park, 12621 Rye Street. The carnival will begin at 4:00 pm and wind down at 6:30 pm. The show will start at 6:30 pm and run until 8:30 pm.
