Star-studded fundraiser returning to SoCal

A famous hotel in the Studio City area is preparing to host an annual charity fundraiser in just a couple of days.

This week, the Fulfillment Fund Stars Benefit Gala will be returning to the Beverly Hilton for the 19th time. The organizers of this year’s event may have used the services of professional stationery printers to design invitations for the well-known guests expected to be in attendance.

The Fulfillment Fund organization, which is based in Los Angeles, aims to increase the educational opportunities of low-income high school students. The donations it collects go toward mentoring, college counseling, and in-classroom programs. Historically, Stars Benefit Galas have raised millions of dollars for the cause.

Actor Ed Helms, who has gained fame for his roles in The Hangover films and the television series The Office, will serve as host at this fall’s gala. Rapper Pharrell Williams will be on hand to give a live performance.

The event will honor Chris Meledandri, the CEO of Illumination Entertainment. Actor Sidney Poitier, who has attended the occasion in the past, will also receive the Founders’ Humanitarian Award.

The Stars Benefit Gala is guaranteed to attract a host of celebrity guests. A list of this year’s attendees has not yet been released, but previous visitors have included actress Eva Longoria, comedienne Kathy Griffin, and singer Selena Gomez.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23 and will begin at 6:30 pm with a cocktail party. It will be open to the public, but tickets are sold out. Those interested in making donations toward Fulfillment Fund may call (310) 201-5033.
