Culinary festival coming soon to San Joaquin

July 28, 2013 by

The 6th Annual Taste of San Joaquin has been scheduled to soon take place in downtown Stockton. The event attracts thousands of visitors to the California city each year.

The festival will feature BBQ Championships, restaurants from across the region offering their specialties, wine and beer gardens, entertainment, and kids’ activities.

The entertainment line-up includes Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, Latin Magic Band, Big Earl Matthews, Poor House Millionaires, and The House of Orange. The BBQ Championship is one of the most popular aspects of the event. Over 30 BBQ teams from across the nation will compete. The event is KCBS sanctioned and will give visitors a chance to meet the acclaimed competitors. Celebrities attending include “Slap Yo Daddy” from TLC’s “BBQ Pitmasters” and “Smokin’ Yankees”, Stockton’s 2009 People’s Choice winner.

The event is managed by SMG Stockton in partnership with Downtown Stockton Alliance for the purpose of generating revenue for non-profit organizations in the area. The proceeds from the event will benefit local restaurants and charities.

Vendors will be on hand to display and sell their various products and services. Working with local print companies enables the vendors to have the supplies they need for the event. Business card printing is a frequent project, as the vendors like to have the cards available to distribute from their booths to solicit future business.

This year’s Taste of San Joaquin will take place August 17 from 11:30 am to 6:30 pm.

Several sponsors participate in the Taste of San Joaquin, including In-Shape Health Clubs, BigValley Ford, and Stockton Arena. Event and sponsor information is available via the Taste of San Joaquin website.
