5k event to benefit local newborns
March 28, 2013 by Mark
With ViaCord as its sponsor, the walk will be held at the Embarcadero Marina Park South. The proceeds will benefit families with newborns in the neonatal intensive care units.
A red rose ceremony along with a champagne toast will follow the race in celebration of mothers. The day will be packed full of fun activities for children, live music, and plenty of food. Awards will be given to the top three female and male finishers.
Registration will begin at 7:00 am with the race starting at 7:30 am. A special diaper dash will begin at 10:30 am for kids aged under six. Several sponsors have generously agreed to participate in this event, but more are still needed and can participate by contacting the event management office.
Volunteers are needed to assist with a large event of this nature. Assistance with registration, directions, spectators, the course, water stations, and post-event activities are needed. Local printing companies generally are called upon to provide materials needed to manage events of this type. Maps are distributed to all participants usually, and banner printing is often important in order to direct the runners and walkers through the course.
To sign up to participate on May 11, or to be a volunteer, visit the walk’s website. A course map is available online for those interested in participating in the race.
