Santa Rosa, located in the Sonoma County Wine Country, will host the 26th Annual International Film Festival from September 12 – 23, 2012. The festival provides a venue for film artists, producers and directors to showcase their talents and a cultural experience for attendees. The event takes place outside in the beautiful wine country setting.
There are many types of films accepted and presented during the festival including documentaries, animation, and experimental. Several cinema categories are established for classifying films including U S, cine-Latino, world, conscience, eco, and arts and food on film. A new section has been added to this year’s festival entitled VetsFest focusing on films about and by veterans.
Several other organized events are scheduled for the 2012 festival including tribute presentations, seminars, workshops, and master classes. Competitions are a significant aspect of the film festival with short film and best feature awards.
The Festival Hospitality Lounge has been established for residents and visitors along with the participants in the festival to meet, relax and discuss the movies. The lounge is located in downtown Santa Rosa and features happy hours, art shows, panel reviews, discussions and parties.
A locals only pass is available for Napa County and Sonoma residents to purchase which includes admission to the movie screenings with approximately 80 films on the agenda. It also includes entrance to the opening and closing night films with priority entry. Anyone purchasing the pass will have access to the Film Hospitality Lounge in downtown Santa Rosa, as well.
