Warm Wishes coming to San Rafael area
November 23, 2012 by Mark
‘Tis the season to help the homeless and San Rafael is full speed ahead with the Warm Wishes project.
On Saturday, December 1 at 9:00 am, volunteers from across the region will join together in Novato, a neighborhood in the San Rafael area, to stuff backpacks and distribute them to homeless people.
Items going in the packs include rain ponchos, holiday cards, gloves, socks, and caps. There are 5,000 back packs, given the name ‘StreetPacks’, that need to be stuffed and distributed.
The Warm Wishes organization is in touch with local teachers to encourage students to make holiday greeting cards to go in the packs, spreading some joy and good wishes towards those in need. Cards should be mailed to Warm Wishes/MarinLink in San Rafael.
This year, the organization is asking for a donation at the door to offset the costs of the new items being supplied, with $10 much appreciated. People giving a more generous donation will help take the program further to assist people living in the streets of the area.
Printing companies often work with charitable organizations to assist with printing services for events. Flyer printing provides a great tool to announce the event and gather more interest and volunteers. Flyers can be handed out from various locations as well as posted on walls, buildings, in windows, and other flat surfaces to draw attention. They can also be made available at public venues for distribution.
The volunteer location address is 600 Palm Drive in Novato. For more information, visit the website or call 415-472-0211.
