Department of Rock coming to San Mateo

July 26, 2013 by

A pop culture group of musicians, the Department of Rock, will play in downtown San Mateo, California, at Central Park. The concert is one of a series of summer concerts in the city.

The Department of Rock considers itself a tongue-in-cheek secret society that monitors and supports the “right to party”. Members of the group say their mission is to protect the nation from “sub-standard rock”.

The Department of rock performs diverse hits from well-known groups such as Bon Jovi, Journey, The Beatles, Van Halen, Muse, Kings of Leon, the Police, Styx, Tom Petty, Billy Idol, Green Day, Beastie Boys and many others.

The City of San Mateo strives to be a “green city” and requests assistance from residents and visitors in keeping the city clean and green. The green bin is for food and paper; the blue is for cans and bottles; black bin is for trash. Therefore, attendees at the summer concerts are requested to comply.

Signage is an important component at outdoor events. Starting with the parking lot, banner printing is ordered. Professional banners are placed in the parking facilities, directing the public to park appropriately. Banners are also used throughout an event, providing guidance and attracting attention to designated areas.

The Department of Rock concert will begin at 6:00pm and end at 8:00 pm on August 8.

There are many sponsors involved in assisting with the summer concert series, including the City of San Mateo and the San Mateo City Parks and Recreation. For sponsorship or event information, contact either entity.
