City of San Marcos presents Rock, Blues and BBQ Festival

Presented by City of San Marcos and Allen’s Wrench, the Rock, Blues and BBQ Festival will take place at Walnut Grove Park on Sycamore Drive, June 9 from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Six bands covering various genres of music will be playing at different times throughout the day and will include blues, Motown, R&B, oldies, rock, soul, and bluegrass. Box Canyon Band kicks off the festival at noon with bluegrass music. Well-known for the R&B and Motown sound, Soul Diego comes on stage at 1:00 p.m. Get ready for high energy music including rock, soul and blues when Aunt Kizzy’s Boyz take the stage at 2:00 p.m.

Following Aunt Kizzy’s Boyz is Craig’s Band at 3:30 p.m. featuring 60s and 70s rock music. Shari Puorto Band takes center stage at 5:00 p.m. presenting roots, blues, rock and soul. Bill Magee Blues performs at 6:30 p.m.

Various food items will be available at the outdoor BBQ with a portion of proceeds being donated to Angel’s Depot. Angel’s Depot is a non-profit organization providing free meals to seniors living in poverty in the San Diego area.

A beer garden will be onsite for patrons 21 years of age or older to enjoy. No glass or outside alcohol is allowed in the park, however.

Local printing companies have possibly provided banner printing and flyer printing, in addition to other festival printing services required.

Visitors are encouraged to bring low-back beach chairs, beach blankets, sun block, and sunglasses. Still cameras are also allowed.
