17th Annual Holiday Parade scheduled in San Marcos
October 29, 2012 by Sarah
The 17th Annual Kiwanis Club of San Marcos Holiday Parade will be one of the first items on the itinerary in December, beginning on Mission Road and ending at the San Marcos Civic Center in the land of Santa’s Magical Village.
The San Marcos High School Air Force Color Guard, along with the high school drill team, will be participating in the parade. Additionally, the Boys & Girls Club, along with over a hundred students and parents will join in the festivities. Marching bands and other drill teams from high schools in the district will participate as well.
Each year, the parade presents a theme and this year it is ‘An 1890s San Marcos Christmas’, which will include historical information and fun incorporated into the activities. President of the San Marcos Historical Society, Tanis Brown, will be the Grand Marshall.
Local printing companies are often called upon to supply materials for parades and events of this type, including banner printing. Banners are used frequently in parades to denote the entity for each participant involved. Banners are highly visible and attract attention quickly, as they are usually either carried by two people or hung from a float. Poster printing also often comes into effect when promoting events like this.
