San Francisco Water Festival scheduled for Fourth of July celebration
May 7, 2012 by Mark
Pier 39 will be bustling with even more activity than usual on the fourth of July this year. The San Francisco Water Festival will be held there and will consist of entertainment, arts, crafts culinary delights, and of course, a fireworks show to light up the San Francisco skies.
Pier 39 occupies 45 acres along fisherman’s wharf and is one of the most popular spots for visitors and residents in San Francisco. Comprised of 100+ stores, over a dozen restaurants, amazing bay views, and lots of fun activities, it is easy to see why Pier 39 is the selected location for the fireworks extravaganza year after year.
Festivities will begin at noon and continue throughout the day with local bands performing to entertain the crowds. The fireworks show starts at approximately 9:30 p.m.
It is recommended that rather than drive and have to find a parking spot, event participants may wish to consider utilizing a cab, walking or finding alternate means of getting to the wharf for this heavily attended event.
There are various areas within the area to consider for best fireworks show viewing. The Cannery, Coit Tower and Ghirardelli Square are great places to watch the fireworks. Aquatic Park and other spots along the Wharf will also be vantage points for viewing. These areas are traditionally high traffic tourist areas so people planning to attend should secure their viewing points in ample time prior to the show.
