San Diego Quilt Show scheduled
July 26, 2013 by Mark
The 2013 San Diego Quilt Show will take place at the San Diego Convention Center this September. The weekend will offer exhibits, classes, networking, contests and a vendor mall.
Various classes and workshops are scheduled kicking off with a two day class, “Heat Set Applique” led by instructor Grace Errea. Ms. Errea will focus on the importance of value in creating traditional as well as artistic quilts. She will present main design elements, dimensionality, mood and perspective. Ms. Errea will also introduce a new machine applique technique.
Another popular workshop, fabric wrapped baskets, will be presented by Mary Tabar. The craft involves wrapping fabric around materials such as ropes or clothes line. They are than coiled into various shapes. Coiling was done with clay many years ago and has made resurgence with their intrinsic beauty.
The Vendor Mall will feature dozens of exhibitors throughout the event displaying and selling many items. Jewelry, quilts, accessories, notions, patterns, sewing equipment, and other items of interest will be available. “Make it and Take it” opportunities will be available for visitors to create something and take it with them.
Local print companies typically work with vendors in producing materials needed for the exhibits. Banner and business card printing are frequent orders. The banners are placed in the booths or display space to note who the vendor is and what they offer. Business cards are distributed for the purpose of developing future business.
The event is scheduled for September 5-7. Visit the San Diego Quilt Show website for information on location directions, pricing, vendor application, sponsorship opportunities, and other scheduled activities.
