Concerts by the Sea featured in La Jolla
June 6, 2012 by James
La Jolla, an affluent beach community within San Diego, is featuring the annual Concerts by the Sea events for the summer starting July 15 at the Ellen Browning Scripps Park. The concerts are free and are family-friendly in presenting various musical genres throughout the summer season.
The concerts are positioned to overlook the La Jolla Cove, a popular secluded beach area with white sand and beautiful views. The cove is visited regularly by swimmers, divers and snorkelers. The cove is part of the La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve which provides protection of the marine life in the cove and beach areas.
Concessions will be onsite offering all the summer favorites including hot dogs, ice cream sodas and popcorn with proceeds supporting the concert events.
Each week raffles are conducted with gift certificates for restaurants and other San Diego activities being given out as prizes. A weekly grand prize is raffled which includes four days and three nights at a Cabo San Lucas resort.
The concerts are held each Sunday from 2:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. and include an interesting variety of music styles such as blues, swing, Cajun, rock and roll and big band.
The free concerts are supported by donations. For those interested in making a donation, please visit the La Jolla Concerts by the Sea website or call 858-454-1600 for more information.
