Comic-Con and Hall of Fame on the move

The Breitbard Hall of Fame, currently located in Balboa Park, will soon move to Petco Park, freeing space for the Comic-Con Center to relocate there.

The Breitbard facility will move into the Western Metal Supply Company building at the ballpark. Construction on the installation is scheduled to finish during the Padres’ 2017 season.

Bob Breitbard, who founded the Hall of Fame, was a San Diego sports icon. He coached at both Hoover High School and San Diego State, and in 1946 he founded the Breitbard Athletic Association to honor local athletes, both professional and amateur. The association grew into the Breitbard Hall of Fame, which moved into the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park in 1953.

Once the Hall of Fame moves out, Comic-Con will move in. The center will feature interactive exhibits that celebrate many different aspects of pop culture. Comic-Con itself began in 1970 in the U.S. Grant Hotel, but soon outgrew that venue, and is now housed in the Convention Center. Every year, science fiction, fantasy, comic book, graphic novel, and fans of entertainment in general come from all over the world to dress up in costume, meet their favorite actors, artists, and producers, and get a look at upcoming films and other projects.

Organizations like this can benefit by working with a postcard printing company, which can create a mailer letting people in the area know about the relocation.
