San Clemente residents to enjoy holiday festivities by the sea
November 16, 2013 by Mark
San Clemente residents are invited to mark the start of the holiday season by attending a gathering in their town’s Spanish Village by the Sea district later this month.
The weekend after Thanksgiving, the City of San Clemente will be partnering with the San Clemente Downtown Business Association to host the ‘Puttin’ on the Glitz’ event. Printing companies may be busier than usual as they work to fulfill orders for promotional posters and flyers.
The evening will begin with the arrival of Santa Claus, who is scheduled to ride onto Avenida Del Mar in a fire truck. Children will be able to share their Christmas wishes with St. Nick and pose for pictures with him at the Community Center.
Sidewalk vendors will be selling a variety of traditional wintertime treats, including freshly roasted chestnuts. Restaurants and shops in the area will also be offering special deals.
As they stroll through the streets to dine and shop, attendees will enjoy live music from local performing groups. This year’s line-up will include the San Clemente Choral Society, the Long Beach Fire Department Pipe Band, and the Close Harmony Jazz Band.
Families will also be able to take train rides through the village for a cost of $1 per person. A railroad exhibit will be open as well.
Puttin’ on the Glitz will take place on Saturday, November 30. The festivities will begin at 5:00 pm and wrap up at approximately 9:00 pm.
The Spanish Village by the Sea is located just east of the San Clemente Pier.
