San Bernardino residents to participate in National Dance Day

July 21, 2013 by

San Bernardino folks of all abilities and ages are encouraged to enjoy a day filled with music and rhythm in nearby Riverside.

Next weekend, it will once again be time for the National Dance Day Block Party. Printing companies may be experiencing a rise in business as the organizers of the gathering order posters and banners in preparation for the event.

The Block Party is part of a grander movement to boost the overall level of physical fitness in the United States. It began in 2010 and is associated with Nigel Lythgoe, who helped create the ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ television program and also serves as co-president of the Dizzy Feet Foundation. Similar parties will be taking place at the same time in other cities around the country.

Attendees will be able to compete in dancing contests, win prizes, or simply take in the performances and music that surround them. The day will include routines from seasoned dancers affiliated with several large studios in the Riverside area, such as Kylie’s Dance Creations, Arthur Murray, and Danzanna Dance Productions. Amateur and experienced dancers alike will be invited to participate in the ‘Everybody Dance’ portion of the festivities.

The event will also feature health demonstrations that educate the public about what they can do to adopt more active lifestyles.

The National Dance Day Block Party is set for Saturday, July 27, between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. It will take place at Riverside Plaza (3545 Central Avenue) and admission will be free.
