Girl Scouts to hold color-packed fundraiser in San Bernardino

August 18, 2013 by

Girl Scout clubs from the San Bernardino area are teaming up with members of the public to participate in a fun-filled fundraising event next month.

Over the first weekend in September, the city’s California State University campus will become the site of the Colorful Dash. The demand for poster printing has likely been on the rise as the organizers of this festive occasion continue their efforts to recruit attendees of all ages.

Volunteers will throw colored powder at the participants at various stages of the race, creating a sense of excitement for those on the track as well as for the spectators watching from the sidelines. Everyone who plans to take part in the dash is encouraged to wear white so that the effects of the color bursts will be more visible.

The race will take place in a relaxed atmosphere – it will not be timed and there will be no winners, so participants will be free to run or walk as they choose. Some children will be riding their scooters, while others will be pushed in strollers or pulled in wagons.

The event will cost $12 for Girl Scouts and $27 for non-Girl Scouts who pre-register. Anyone who registers on the morning of the race will need to pay $35. Proceeds will go toward the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council.

The Colorful Dash is scheduled for September 7 at 8:30am. Check-in will begin at 8:00am. Participants will need to pick up their packets on August 30.

Those interested in participating may call (800) 400-GIRL to learn more information and to register.
