Locals to get their claws around Queen Crab Feed

January 9, 2014 by

The Miss Sacramento County Scholarship Association is inviting all Sacramento Miss America supporters to join members in attending Miss Sacramento County’s First Annual “Queen Crab Feed” later this month.

As part of the fundraiser, visitors will enjoy limitless crab, salad, and pasta while supporting a scholarship program. Diners can also buy raffle tickets for $1 each.

Profits from the event will go to the Miss Sacramento County Scholarship Program, which will then disseminate the money to girls who enter 2014 pageants. Those who wish to do so may want to contract with local print companies for flyer or poster printing services to advertise the event.

From 1950 to 1974, the local Jaycees sponsored the Miss Sacramento County Pageant. That year, the Miss Sacramento County Scholarship Association Inc., a non-profit volunteer organization, took over the reins of the local pageant and began to raise money for scholarships for the participants.

The Miss America Pageant bestows over $49 million in scholarship money to 70,000 contestants every year, and the program has also contributed over $8,600,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network. The local program directs its support to the children in U.C. Davis hospital.

The Crab Feed will be held Saturday, January 18, at The Dante Club in Sacramento. The No-Host Reception will be taking place from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm with the dinner following the reception from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Tickets must be bought in advance online at the program’s website.
