Hilton and Marriot set up camp in Redondo Beach

Plans are now moving forward for the development of five-acre area located near Marine Avenue and Inglewood Avenue in Redondo Beach, with the ground breaking for the Hilton Garden Inn and a Residence Inn by Marriot taking place on April 9.

The area was marked for construction a few years ago and entailed plans for two hotels. Other businesses were also proposed for the area, but TRCF Redondo LLC won out with bids on the property and plans were made for accommodation facilities in 2010. The project was stalled over the past couple of years due to economic reasons, but the wheels are now well in motion.

As this area and other locations in and around Redondo Beach undergo construction and development, nearby printing companies are likely to keep busy as new businesses place orders for catalog printing, postcard printing, and other printing services as the area continues to develop.

As ground was broken in a dirt lot to begin construction, various investors, developers, and city officials were gathered to celebrate the start of the $59m development project. Each hotel will be four stories high and will include meeting rooms. The Hilton Garden Inn will have 147 rooms, while the Residence Inn by Marriot will include 172 rooms to accommodate guests.

Construction on the two new hotels is estimated to take a little over a year. Both hotels are expected to open next Spring and will bring around 100 new jobs to the area.
